Obamacare and Medicaid Expansion Allow for Subsidization of Abortion

A study released this week by the Charlotte Lozier Institute, the research arm of the Susan B. Anthony List, shows that the number of abortions subsidized by federal tax dollars and Medicaid expansion is likely to be between 71,000 and 111,500 per year nationally.

Advocates of abortion tout the Hyde Amendment, saying that under this law abortion services cannot be directly funded through taxpayer dollars. However, the Hyde Amendment does not apply to Obamacare, and the Lozier study details how multi-state plans will offer at least one plan that covers abortions beyond the exceptions allowed under the Hyde Amendment.

Furthermore, expanding Medicaid in the Granite State allows for more taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood, who is also receiving additional tax dollars for being a ‘navigator’ of Obamacare.

All along, Cornerstone has been saying that Obamacare will greatly expand taxpayer funding of abortion. This study confirms that under Obamacare, 18,035 women in New Hampshire will potentially gain abortion coverage that is subsidized by the taxpayers. Furthermore, abortion giant Planned Parenthood will gain even more taxpayer funding through the expansion of Medicaid and as a navigator of Obamacare. Regardless of where one stands on abortion, all New Hampshire citizens should be able to agree that taxpayers shouldn’t have to pay for it.

Update on Common Core in New Hampshire

In an effort to keep you updated on Common Core in New Hampshire, the Manchester Curriculum & Instruction Committee chose not to vote on Common Core during their meeting on Wednesday. We want to give a big thank you to the many people who came out and testified on why Common Core should not be adopted in the Manchester School district. Many people testified in support of elevating standards above the low expectations Common Core offers students in New Hampshire. We encourage parents and Manchester residents to stay involved.

Upcoming events to attend:

– Meeting with NH Commissioner of Education on Common Core: At SERESC on Monday, September 30th at 7:00 PM at 29 Commerce Drive, Bedford, NH 03110

– Manchester School Board meeting on Common Core: At City Hall on October 17 at 7:00 PM
