Jon Huntsman, Jr.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All posts about prominent figures reflect facts gleaned for informational purposes only and will be updated as further information is found. They are not to be construed as anything other than each person’s history as it pertains to issues that may be of importance to most tea partiers. IT IS NEVER TO BE CONSTRUED AS AN ATTACK or ENDORSEMENT either way. The NH Tea Party is a Coalition of 40+ new or long standing groups who retain their own group autonomy with regard to endorsements, raising money, etc but who have banded together to exchange info about events, and local, state and federal issues, and to support each other about same, and to show support for the ‘tea party movement’.

According to WikiPedia, “Jon Meade Huntsman, Jr. (born March 26, 1960) is an American politician, a Republican and diplomat. He is currently the United States Ambassador to China until his resignation comes into effect on April 30, 2011. He previously served as the 16th Governor of Utah from 2005 until August 11, 2009, when he resigned during his second term in office to become Ambassador to China.”

Note that it also listed these positions:

“Huntsman has at times taken positions that put him at odds with his party’s conservative base. Jennifer Rubin, a conservative pundit with the Washington Post, stated her opinion that “Huntsman isn’t, and never has been, a rock-solid conservative.” According to Ed Kilgore of the New Republic, he holds “progressive stances on climate change, immigration, and education.” Steve Kornacki of Salon.com argues that Huntsman “separated himself from the Republican Party’s Tea Party base by embracing and endorsing Obama’s stimulus.” He also “signed up with the Western Regional Climate Action Initiative,” a “regional cap-and-trade system,” in 2007.
