Has ALIPAC Lost Street Cred?

We have witnessed cases in NH where overly-zealous conservative groups have actually derailed good conservative candidates for very selfish reasons. These groups are fast losing their credibility as candidates are learning of what they’ve done and are rejecting them as sources of support.

Similarly, ALIPAC, or Americans for Legal Immigration, has put out a press release decrying California Gubernatorial Candidate Republican Meg Whitman for having (unwittingly) employed an illegal alien, and even calling for her arrest in light of the recent revelation that Whitman’s 9-year employee was actually an illegal alien.

The press release stated, that “Nicki Diaz gave a tearful interview to reporters today, accompanied by Gloria Allred, a longtime Democratic supporter. Diaz claims that Whitman, a Republican candidate for Governor of California, knew she was an illegal alien and was abusive to her and failed to pay her all her wages. Diaz cried through most of the interview in what was an obviously contrived display of political theater.”

Whitman is up against the very progressive Jerry Brown (D) for the position of Governor of California.

Most feel this is a political trick by Lawyer Gloria Allred, who is representing Whitman’s nanny. The nanny doesn’t seem all that convinced she should be doing this and was sobbing during a press conference in which she stated that she was doing it to prevent the ‘abuse’ of other illegals by their employers. Sounds like a political trick to us.

There is only one problem for Allred and her client.

Whitman went through a proper employment agency to avoid just such a thing from happening. The illegal had the proper papers and filled out a 1099 form. She worked for the Whitman family for 9 years, was apparently treated as one of the family and even admitted to Meg Whitman that she ‘loved the family’. When she did reveal her status, Whitman immediately let her go.

Our question to ALIPAC is this: Since non-Progressive candidates just don’t grow on trees in California… by any chance are you folks supporting Jerry Brown?
