On Tuesday April 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM, Rep. Butler (D-Carroll County) will be bringing an amendment before the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs Committee in Room 206 of the LOB on SB 455 to give the Insurance Commissioner carte blanche with respect to implementing the tragic federal healthcare legislation that recently was signed by the president.
The proposed amendment is relative to the authority of the insurance department regarding national health insurance reform. Copies of the proposed amendment will be available from the Sergeant-at-Arms office and online.
The amendment can be found HERE.
This amendment will then have an executive session at 1:30 PM on the same day.
Republican Leadership will oppose this measure with all fervency and we encourage you to read the amendment and weigh in on Tuesday.
This is an attempt to give the Insurance Commissioner more authority than he has ever had, and completely yield our abilities to work on healthcare here in New Hampshire. We cannot let this happen.
Here is a quote from Amendment 2010-1528h: “Authority of the Commissioner. Notwithstanding any state law or rule, the commissioner shall have the authority to enforce the Act as if it were state law, including any federal guidance or rules that are issued under the Act. In addition, the commissioner shall have the authority in accordance with the time frames set forth in the Act”.
This amendment, if passed, is designed to yield the legislative authority of your duly elected representatives, and give unprecedented power to the Insurance Commissioner to implement, make, adopt, and amend the rules and regulations of National Healthcare without further legislative approval, as well as block any future work on healthcare reform by your legislators. The outrageous provisions of National Healthcare will be forced upon the citizens of New Hampshire as a Federal mandate in defiance of our state sovereignty, and the will of the people.
It would seem that the democratic majority in Concord has also taken a page from the playbook of their counterparts in Washington, DC, on how to cram Nationalized Healthcare down the throats of New Hampshire citizens because, after the public hearing, the amendment will be voted on by the Executive Committee at 1:30 the same day so that it can be rushed through the Legislature!
We need as many people that can to attend. Demand that the State Protect you from Obamacare. Write to the Committee and to Rep. Butler to tell them you do not approve.
