Arne Duncan Background

Grew up in Hyde Park and went to the private University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. *The Obama girls have been students at the private University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, where tuition currently runs above $21,000 per year per student. Duncan’s mother ran a tutoring program and his father is on the University of Chicago faculty.

After graduating with a Bachelors degree in *Sociology from Harvard in 1987, where he was co-captain of the basketball team during his Senior year, Duncan played professional basketball* in Australia* with the Eastside Spectres of their National Basketball League, (after he was cut by the Boston Celtics.)

While in Tasmania he met his future wife, Karen Duncan currently resides in Hyde Park area of Chicago with Karen and their two children, Claire and Ryan.

*Some of Duncan’s childhood friends were/and are *John W. Rogers, Jr., CEO of Ariel Capital Management (now Ariel Investments) and also founder of the Ariel Academy (this becomes very important later), Illinois Senator Kwame Raoul, actor Michael Clarke Duncan, singer R. Kelly and martial artist Michelle Gordon.

Duncan’s spoken accent at this time led at least one college basketball coach to assume that he was of African-American descent

*Duncan returned to Chicago in 1992, to work for his high school friend John W Rogers Jr., and direct the Ariel Education Initiative (founded by Rogers Jr). The *purported mission of the Ariel Funds and Foundations is to seek to create outstanding educational opportunities for inner-city children on the City’s South Side.

*In 1998,Duncan broke with Bill Ayers and Obama and their Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC) and joined the Chicago Public Schools. Duncan served as deputy chief of staff for Chicago School Systems first CEO, Paul Vallas, who was appointed by Mayor Daley in 1995. The CEO position, was created as part of Mayor Daley re-centralizing the Chicago School System after the abysmal failure of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC)

He was among the friends who played basketball with Obama on Election Day and has played pick-up games with Michael Jordan.

Duncan’s appointment — *confirmed to the Sun-Times by a transition official — adds Duncan to an Obama White House lineup that already includes a bevy from Obama’s Chicago inner circle: Valerie Jarrett, incoming senior advisor; Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.), chief of staff designate; Desiree Rogers, social secretary; David Axelrod, another advisor; Tina Tchen, public liaison chief and Michael Stratumanis, Jarretts’s chief of staff.

Chicago Annenberg Challenge

Bill Ayers, and others from the radical Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and Weather Underground (WU) solidified their ideas about the wrongness of American Education while attending a KGB training Camp run by Colonel Vadim Kotchergin in Cuba in 1968 and 1969. The camps were teaching Marxist Philosophy and Urban Warfare. Prairie Fire, a book written by Ayers, Dohrn, Jeff Jones, while in hiding for a decade, also provides great insight into the distorted ideas these people carry about education even to this day. (See sidebar for link).Castro ensured that the illegal travels (done in waves) were hidden by arranging for these then young people to fly from Canada to Hungry and then to Cuba, with the return trip being reversed. The FBI has released a 401 page summary on the ideologies of these radicals and training they received.

Bill Ayers learned to articulate his “Philosophy” about education while doing his advanced Degrees at Columbia Univ. Upon graduating in 1987, he returned to Chicago and became immediately involved in writing grants and organizing the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC). Dr Steve Diamond, a Chicago based lawyer, political scientist and law professor, who teaches courses and conducts research on the global capital markets, business law, international human rights and labor law provides well researched summaries on how Annenberg worked and links between those involved HERE and HERE

Dr. Stanley Kurtz, a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center has recently been allowed access to the papers from the now defunct CAC Challenge. Doing an excellent job, Dr. Kurtz is still at the point of refuting Obama and Ayers falsehoods regarding the Formation and Structure of the Anneberg GROUPS

What is not yet widely known is that Obama, Ayers and Klonsky (a Maoist Communist) shared office space for at least 3 years if not closer to six years. Here are the tax documents that prove the nexus first column on left. The center column, proves how Obama gave Ayers, $2 Million of the Annenberg money. Also “You Tube” has removed the video mentioned in column two – an unfortunate standard practice since Geroge Soros “bought” Google video section last year. The article alone is still worth a view. Arne Duncan is Bestest Buddies with the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. In fact, he worked with the Annenberg Challenge to program curriculum in Chicago Public Schools And there is this from an official statement by the Annenberg Challenge from Dr. Kurtz National Review article above:

The Challenge’s work is still carried on today through to the bipartisan Chicago Public Education Fund a Private Venture Capital Fund, which coordinates closely Chicago Public Schools CEO Arne Duncan and Mayor Daley to improve teacher performance and has included such board members as Illinois Republican Party Chair Andrew McKenna.

A series of critical evaluations point to reasons for that failure; including a poor strategy to which the foundation over-committed in 1995; and over-reliance on community organizers with insufficient education expertise. The failure of CAC thus raises entirely legitimate questions, both about Obama’s competence, his alliances with radical community organizers, and about Ayers’s continuing influence over CAC and its board, headed by Obama. Above all, by continuing to fund Ayers’s personal projects, and those of his political-educational allies, Obama was lending moral and material support to Ayers’s profoundly radical efforts. Of course CAC and Duncan worked hand-in-hand, to the point where they and the greater educational community (read Ayers and Associates) viewed the partnership and its resulting curriculum modification in Chicago’s schools as a success!!

Current School Curriculums

Around the Same Time Bill Ayers and Obama were setting up the Annenberg Challenge Programs and Groups, students at University of Chicago were doing research. The outcome was something they coined “Everyday Mathematics”, which of course was “sold” to school districts around the country producing extra millions in additional cash.

If you look at the sample lessons you will see there is lots and lots of coloring up through grades 5, but not much that is traditionally called “mathematics.

Manchester NH public school districts, use this Everyday Math system If you review the “lessons” through grade 5, you will note that there is a great deal of time spent on calendars and clocks. What happened to the days when by the 2nd week of school most first graders had clocks down pat, and absolutely knew what time Reading, Writing, Spelling, Recess, and Lunch were scheduled simply by learning to read the classroom clock? Why are they wasting the first 5 years of school on Calendars, when today it is simple enough to print a monthly and annual calendar from a computer? Show me the child who does not understand by having an actually calendar, and learns the age old rhyme “Thirty days has September, April, June and November. All the rest have 31 days, save February and then one more for leap year”! Have kids become that exponentially stupid where they need to waste an inordinate amount of time on areas most first graders fully understand, at least by the end of one school month if they are exceptionally slow?

Michelle Malkin, wrote an article. One of the response she received was from an Illinois Public School mom who wrote that in her child’s 5th grade Everday Math book were these Math Problems:

A. If math were a color, it would be –, because –.
B. If it were a food, it would be –, because –.
C. If it were weather, it would be –, because –.

It has been understood for centuries that a good grounding in “normal” mathematics was the base for critical thinking skills as well the foundation for all scientific and technological advances. What I have found is that the so called Math being foisted off on public school kids ensures that they will never learn multiplication and division, never mind higher math, This Chicago making profit scam should be labeled Educashun for future dishwashers and ditch diggers!
