Bogus Press Release an Example of Larger Problem

Feeling the Heat, False Charges Carelessly Flung

Hawkins Claimed Fellow Socialists Were NHTPC Members

Hawkins Claimed Fellow Socialists Were NHTPC Members

Likely feeling the heat from the hundreds of thousand of angry protesters who showed up in DC on Sunday to wag their fingers in the faces of those who would violate the Constitution, there were a lot of bogus accusations hurled around, not the least egregious of which were made right here in NH. We are referring to an official press release that contained the charges that our group, the NH Tea Party Coalition, named specifically as responsible for organizing and/or attending a ‘white pride’ rally that took place in Concord on March 21. (Most of us were either in DC, or home, sitting in our PJs, watching the events on television.) Further it insinuated that NHTPC members have been the perpetrators of incidents violence in the past year, also false.

The website Blue Hampshire participated in the smear by posting the lengthy, concocted press release issued by Sarah Chaisson Warner, Director of NH Citizens Alliance, and further exacerbated by comments from a motley crew which included Zandra Rice Hawkins, Director of Granite State Progress. Even after finding out the press release was false, Hawkins persisted in spreading the allegation that the 5 people they saw at the Statehouse on March 21 were a group that “identified” with our group.

Unfortunately for them, their ‘charges’ were not true, and never were. Apparently these people do not understand that libel coming from unretracted smears can (and will) have serious consequences.

Ray Buckley an Embarrassment to His Party

In addition, former Chair of the NHDP Atty. Kathy Sullivan and current Chair Raymond Buckley (not the first time he’s been a huge embarrassment to the Democrats) jumped on the bandwagon, extending the blame to anyone and everyone they could think of that might support tea party principles. Tea party principles of course can be seen here, and all groups who support those principles, are listed here, but only with their permission, and only after being vetted by the others.

NH Law Allows for Retraction

Apparently, 5 members of a group called New England White Pride were standing there holding their flag along with a yellow ‘Gadsden’ flag. The history of the Gadsden Flag harkens back to the late 1700s when the colonists were protesting the Stamp Act. You would think a supposedly “Harvard educated” person would know that, and that the flag is a symbol of protest. There is no restriction on who can use it.

Atty. Sullivan did express a ‘mea culpa’ on the website Blue Hampshire, which had aided and abetted the promotion of the false claim by creating a blog post with the same title as the press release, but Sarah Chaisson Warner, undoubtedly embarrassed about making a fool of herself and the rest of those implicated in the attempt to defame, still has not made a formal retraction. NH law requires that a chance to do so be made, but apparently Warner would like to push the envelope. Perhaps she is the recipient of extra Soros money she can use to defend herself against potential lawsuits.

Continued Harassment from the Left

This is not the first time NHTPC member groups have been harassed by these ‘social justice’ groups, with emails and bogus public statements, rightly ignored by NHTPCers.

You are probably asking yourself if the NHDP approves of this kind of harassment and bullying of people? If you’ve lived in NH a long time, you know that Chairman Buckley not only approves of it, but was the inventor of this tactic, many times using the US Postal Service and telephone system to spread unfounded smears against his political enemies, or directly harass them.

Clearly, these people are an embarrassment to their organizations.

And after looking into the source of their funding, turns out they have more ties to ‘white pride’ than they may want to admit. Warner may have had ‘harsh words for the NHTPC’, but we have even harsher words for her; take a look at who funds your activities.

When the tea party first formed, some of the perpetrators of this smear called it a ‘tiny minority’ and not to be taken seriously, while discouraged by the fact that the tea party could send an email and have 100 people at a location in a matter of hours, as opposed to their own groups who were required to be provided with food and signs. Such is the way of paid astro-turf and the lazy left…

Yesterday, this tiny minority came out in Nevada, decidedly on their own dime, to show Harry Reid what they think, all 10,000 of them.
