US Congressmen Vote to Fund UN – Again

Despite growing concerns about a coming financial collapse, and opposition to membership in the UN, Congress voted 333 to 61 to authorize $16 billion in foreign aid (for the purpose of interventionism) including sending $1.6 billion of YOUR TAX DOLLARS to the United Nations as well as “other international organizations” to be distributed throughout the 2013-2017 years.

If your Congressman was one of those who did, please write to them and ask how they can justify shifting such large amounts of money overseas when our own country is in such dire straits. Ask them why they would send financial support to a non-governmental club of countries, mostly communist, who comprise the UN? The UN is basically our enemy, and has infiltrated everywhere from our State Department to our town planning commissions to our public schools.

Here is what Congressman Walter Jones of North Carolina had to say about it:

JONES VOTES AGAINST MORE U.S. FUNDING FOR UNITED NATIONS
Jul 19, 2012 Issues: Economy and Jobs, Budget Spending and Taxes

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week U.S. Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) voted against H.R. 6018, the Department of State Authorization Act. According to the Congressional Budget Office, H.R. 6018 would cost nearly $16 billion to implement between fiscal years 2013 and 2017. Included in the authorization is over $1.6 billion in U.S. taxpayer funding for the United Nations and other international organizations. The bill also includes another $1.8 billion to support international peacekeeping operations in the Middle East, Afghanistan, Liberia, West Africa, Sudan, East Timor, Cambodia, Western Sahara, Kosovo and Bosnia.

The bill passed by a vote of 333 to 61.

“At a time when we are well over $15 trillion in debt, it makes absolutely no sense to continue to give billions of dollars in taxpayers’ hard earned money to the UN and the rest of the world,” said Jones. “It is imperative that we keep our money here and work toward decreasing our own debt and deficit.”
