One issue that is not given nearly the attention it deserves is the travesty that is going on right here in our educational system, right under our noses. Much of it seems downright illegal. You be the judge.
First, we have seen the insurgence of an insidious United Nations program called “IB” which is being purchased with your local tax dollars and allowed to take over our public schools without parental or taxpayer input. It’s impossible to fight if only a few parents see the agenda and the danger in it… especially since the wide-eyed proponents lie through their teeth to the voters about where the program actually comes from, and hide its goal and mission by being very quiet about it. The media often complies.
Here is a quote directly from the IBO.org website:
“The IB has all the infrastructure to teach not just government, but international government; not just law, but international law. I find that very exciting. The question is whether we can formulate public international policy which really has teeth. The UN attempted this, but the thing of real interest is the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This presupposes that there is a common morality that is superior to the different concepts of morality that different cultures have.”
The UDHR says that it is the UN that gives you your rights, they are not God-given.
Unless parents storm their school boards en masse, local control will continue to be circumvented and your money will be used to allow this program’s political agenda to influence your children.
Second, we just learned how the OFA group is recruiting children to work for Obama’s re-election, right out of our high schools. Young Republican Clubs take note… would you be allowed to do this?
Third, we have John Lyons, Chair of the NH School Board who admits he knows nothing much about the subject of schools, teaming up with another board member named Fred Bramante, who for years has been falling for every fad that comes down the pike. These two want to bring in programs like the ONE Campaign, a left-wing PAC, and embed it into the curriculum! ONE was born of the UN agenda for promoting its Millennium Development Goals, a doctrine that attempts to put pressure on the US Congress to pass legislation such as the Global Poverty Act which would redistribute the wealth via carbon taxes. Do you want your kids doing this in school?
Fourth, the voters in Rochester NH are being sold a bill of goods with something called the ‘Big Picture’ schools. They don’t need or want a new high school, but this concept of an open school is being pushed on them by their superintendent. We wonder, what is in it for these folks to be pushing something that is a proven failure. The founder of this “Big Picture” school business (and that’s what it is, part of the ‘education industry’ ) is Denis Litkky, former principal of the failed Thayer Academy, long since closed as a failure in Winchester NH. Litkky is not surprisingly a friend of William Ayers. Yes, THAT William Ayers! These are the people who are shaping the policies in our children’s schools and colleges!
Speaking of colleges, there is no shortage of educational doublespeak there as well. We wonder who finally got to this guy at UNH. We now have learned that ‘philanthropist’ Peter Paul has donated $25M to UNH, no mention of it in the article however. We wonder, what strings will be attached!?
While warning that the school must change or shut down for lack of funds, the President Mark Huddleston is claiming that UNH needs to raise money so they can ‘globalise’ and build new buildings. Calling the school a ‘throwback’ he encouraged a ‘new paradigm’. Translation: he must have gotten his ‘change’ memo from George Soros?.
Unless and until we can separate the role of government from the task of educating our children, we will never win the second battle of the Republic, you know the one you have if you can keep it?
Some parents are simply resolved to keep their children as far from the agenda as possible and are resigned to homeschooling. But even that is under attack here in NH. In what seems like a play straight from the Pelosi/Reid book of circumventing the will of the voters, one of our NH legislators is seeking to bypass the recent defeat of HB 367 and HB 368, two bills that would have put further government controls over NH home schooled children.
NH Rep. Emma Rous is trying to get the DOE to adopt rules for the home schooled that she could NOT get passed in the legislature! This must NOT stand.
Time for parents and taxpayers to stand up and take these folks to task. Write to the State School Board, the Governor, and your legislators and tell them to LAY OFF the home schooled.
Back to the public school issue in NH, be prepared for Governor Lynch’s New England Consortium to start throwing its weight around. Rules will be made according to the wishes of Marc Tucker, the Clinton’s education czar, as he wishes to nationalize our system. Better yet, come 2010, go to the polls and simply vote out John Lynch and vote IN someone who will not usurp the power that is supposed to be in the hands of the parents and taxpayers at the local level, where the taxes are paid.
If we don’t do something soon about this travesty of our public school system, you can kiss local control, and our republican form of government, (what’s left of it) goodbye.
