For those of you in NH who care about our second amendment right to protect our families and property, a local hero named Ward Bird of Moultonborough was sentenced to THREE YEARS in jail for nothing more than adjusting the safety on his gun before going back into his home after asking a trespasser, a convicted felon, to leave his property. The trespasser is claiming he brandished it at her. Even if that were true (it’s not) he had every right to do so when she refused to leave.
Supported by family and friends in the community, including the high school principal and parents of his childrens’ friends, Bird has maintained his innocence and will not plead guilty or do anything else to jeopardize his ability to own guns in the future. This is as it should be.
That said, almost 200 state reps have signed a petition to the Governor’s Council asking for a hearing that would result in the freeing of Bird from his 3-year sentence. This won’t happen until after the holidays but it must be done. This decision should not be allowed to stand because it is in defiance of our rights and the very reason we all carry and own firearms.
On Sunday, December 19th there will be a caravan from two points in NH from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM ending at Manchester Harley Davidson, 115 John E. Devine Dr., Manchester, NH 03103
