Federal Disclose Act More Tyranny (HR 5175)

You may remember a few months ago, the NH Legislature led by the Democratic leadership in the House and Senate, tried passing an unconstitutional attack on free speech by mandating (among other things) that all organizations, including non-profits like many of our members groups, disclose who their donors are. Thankfully, that legislation was defeated in the House.

Well, now it seems our federal representatives are up to the same no good – all in an attempt to pass as many far-left radical pieces of legislation before this current Congress goes into what could be a “lame-duck” session.

Congress is currently considering the “Disclose Act” (HR 5175) which would force groups to publicly disclose who contributes to our organizations! Of course, this is a blatant attempt to silence the message, and harass the supporters.

While it appeared this bill would be dead for the rest of this congressional session, this legislation was resurrected in the House, which just two weeks ago, voted and passed it on to the Senate! Of course, your two congressmen, Hodes and Shea-Porter each voted in favor of the bill.

Please contact your two Senators, Gregg (202-224-3324) and Shaheen (202-224-2841) today – and urge them to protect free speech and vote NO on the Disclose Act when it comes up for a vote in the Senate!
