BOOMGATE! Update…
Reports that the boom offered by PackGen is not up to snuff are bogus — all adjustments were made as suggested. The reason they are not using this boom is simple — LaPointe is a conservative.
John LaPointe is a Maine businessman and friend of this writer’s family. He owns a company called Packgen. He saw the immediate need for more ‘boom’ material to capture the oil that was escaping from the blown out well in the Gulf.
It was originally reported that BP could not find enough of this ‘boom’ to help them contain the spreading slick.
Lapointe says they can make lots more on short notice. He said his company is ramping up production to make 90,000 feet of oil boom per day.
BP sent representatives 4 weeks ago to check out the manufacturer and they are going to send representatives again this week. The boom is sitting in a warehouse as the coastline is destroyed even though John notified the government 4 weeks ago that they had miles of this stuff in the warehouse.
John’s company can produce more boom than anyone in the US and abroad.
