I could not help but choke back tears when I heard Charles Payne talk about how as a young boy, he’d gotten the Christmas present of his dreams. Even though his Mom did not have a lot of money for Christmas presents, she managed to get him the plastic briefcase he’d always wanted and as a bonus, she put a calculator in it! On Christmas morning, Charles was thrilled! Later he brought it to school and the other kids stole it and trashed it.
As a child he grew up in harlem and was not always well received by fellow students who ridiculed his wish to excel in school and speak proper English. But Charles persevered against the odds and found the American dream by becoming a businessman and now is a featured commentator on a cable business channel.
We love you Charles Payne!
