Freedom of Speech at Risk

It is no secret that freedom of speech, under an administration that takes advice from Van Jones, Marc Lloyd, and Robert McChesney, is greatly at risk.

Consider some 2009 quotes from McChesney on controlling the media to silence dissent:

“…any serious effort to reform the media system would have to necessarily be part of a revolutionary program to overthrow the capitalist system itself.”

Robert McChesney, Monthly Review

“We need to do whatever we can to limit capitalist propaganda, regulate it, minimize it, and perhaps even eliminate it.”

– Robert McChesney, Socialist Project

“There is no real answer [to the U.S. economic crisis] but to remove brick by brick the capitalist system itself, rebuilding the entire society on socialist principles.”

– Robert McChesney, Monthly Review

“At the moment, the battle over network neutrality is not to completely eliminate the telephone and cable companies. We are not at that point yet. But the ultimate goal is to get rid of the media capitalists in the phone and cable companies and to divest them from control.”

– Robert McChesney, Socialist Project

“Our job is to make media reform part of our broader struggle for democracy, social justice, and, dare we say it, socialism.”

– Robert McChesney, Monthly Review

“The government will pay half the salary of every reporter and editor up to $45,000 each … this would cost the state $3.5 billion annually,”

– Robert McChesney, cited by Campus Progress

In addition to the resurrection of the ‘fairness doctrine’ which would dictate what talk shows could say and do, now there is a push to regulate the internet.

Please visit Save the Internet to find out about ‘net neutrality’ acccording to McChesney’s ‘Free Press’ organization (don’t be fooled by it — it’s about government control).
