In a recent news report just this past March 13th on WMUR, it was reported that a 15-year-old boy was saved by a Good Samaritan who was driving by when he witness the boy being beaten by a grown man, the Good Samaritan was carrying his concealed firearm.

The boy had reported that the attacking man followed him as he was walking to school and then knocked him to the ground. He tried to stop the man, only to end up being kicked repeated in his torso. This story very well could have been reported as a boy found dead. The grown man kicked and jumped on the boy as he lay on the ground unable to stop the adult from hurting him.

What stopped the man from killing the boy? A Good Samaritan, who approached the grown man, and told him to leave the child alone. When the attacker turned his focus on our good Samaritan, he didn’t back down; in fact our good guy let the attacker know he was armed and able to defend himself.

Now if we put HB 135 into law, that Good Samaritan would be a criminal if he were to try to stop a child from dying. Why? First, he would have no right to defend the child, and secondly he would have the ability to safety retreat from the situation and call for the police. We can only hope that with an average 10 minute response time, the police would arrive on the scene before the boy would be dead or brain damaged from such a savage beating.

Don’t let this happen in New Hampshire! There is not one case anyone can show as evidence to change the law, however, we just enumerated one recent example as to why we need to keep the law as it is.

Contact your representatives today, by phone, by e-mail, or in person. Make sure they know the hands of law abiding citizens should NEVER be tied by law from stopping the actions of a depraved criminal.

Don’t take our word for it- read the NH House of Representative’s calendar. It clearly states that passing, “this bill eliminates the provision allowing a person to use deadly force anywhere he or she has a right to be.” That includes exactly what this man did, when he saw a crime and stopped it. If HB135 passes, the deck will be stacked against the Good Samaritan and in favor of the criminals in our midst.

Respectfully submitted for your review on behalf of the Second Amendment Sisters National Board of Directors and the New Hampshire State Leadership Coordinators;

Hon.
