Ever since learning that ACORN the community organizing group that is under fire for its voter registration efforts last year, will be part of the Census Bureau’s door-to-door information collection efforts, concern has mounted. The process of the 2010 census has been placed under direct control of the White House.<\/p>\n

According to the Washington Times<\/a>:
\n“Outspoken Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann says she’s so worried that information from next year’s national census will be abused that she will refuse to fill out anything more than the number of people in her household.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The Constitution requires a census be taken every 10 but Bachman claims the Constitution doesn’t require any information beyond that.<\/p>\n

The first part of the process began this summer when workers appeared on residential doorsteps in New Hampshire with GPS units that were used to “mark” each address.<\/p>\n

Some residents have said the only information they will supply “Pursuant to Article I, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution”, will be the number of people in the household, and how many are of voting age.” <\/p>\n

Update: Complaints are coming in from people who do not want to answer a supposedly ‘random’ survey from the Commerce Department but fear that the threat of calls, visits, and even arrests and fines will result if they don’t.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile John Conyers has prevented the full investigation of ACORN.
